FREE bunny advice

RABBIT owners from Taunton are being invited to visit a garden centre in the town this month (May 2008) to receive free advice on how to look after their bunnies.

Representatives from the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) will be at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Monkton Heathfield on Saturday, May 10.

Norma Moore, General Manager at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, explained: “I am delighted representatives from the RWAF are able to visit the garden centre to share their wealth of knowledge and experience.

“We are keen to stress the importance of providing proper care to any pets that are taken home from our Pet Centre.”

Rachel Todd, Education Officer from the RWAF, will be at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre on May 10 from 2pm until 5pm to offer visitors complimentary tips on rabbit welfare and care.

Rachel, who lives in Taunton, Somerset with her husband Gary and their five bunnies, six guinea pigs and six dogs, worked for the RSPCA, overseeing the re-homing of many of its rabbits, before becoming one of the founder trustees of the RWAF.

She explained: “The RWAF believes that ‘a hutch is not enough’ and we have an excellent set of leaflets that give sound advice.

“We have recently launched a new club for children aged between seven and 11-years-old called the Jaffa Club. The club has been set up to help children learn more about their rabbits and how to care for them properly. Children will be able to sign up for the club at the garden centre on the day.”

The RWAF is a registered charity dedicated to improving the standard of life for domestic rabbits kept as pets in Britain.
