Friends Group appeals to ‘followers of fashion’
THE BRIDGWATER Friends Group for Children’s Hospice South West is appealing to ‘followers of fashion’ to support a charity show taking place at a Somerset garden centre on Thursday (April 24, 2008).
Representatives from the group are helping with the event at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, which is in Monkton Heathfield between Bridgwater and Taunton, on Thursday, April 24 from 7pm.
Peter Criddle, Vice-Chairman of the Bridgwater Friends Group, said: “We are doing a raffle at the fashion show and are looking forward to it being a good money booster for the Hospice.
“I hope people turn out in large numbers to support the event because it’s for a good cause. The money our group raises goes to the hospice at Charlton Farm near Wraxall in Somerset. It’s amazing the facilities and care they provide for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
“The Bridgwater Friends Group has been going for nearly two years and we meet once a month in different members’ homes to discuss the fundraising activities we are going to do.”
Representatives from the group will assist staff from the garden centre who will be modelling clothes from clothing suppliers Tayberry, Tulcan and Mosula. Proceeds from the event will go to the charity.
Norma Moore, General Manager at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, said: “At the event we are hoping to raise invaluable funds for the charity. The raffle has prizes including a £50 voucher donated by Tayberry and clothes donated by Tulcan.”
Children’s Hospice South West opened its first hospice, Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, in 1995. The hospice offers children with a life-limiting or life-threatening conditions respite, relaxation, friendship and a sense of community. Little Bridge House immediately provided support for up to 200 families.
The demands on Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House increased to the extent that there became a vital need for a second children’s hospice and in April 2007 they opened Charlton Farm near Wraxall, Somerset.
Having another hospice has instantly doubled Children’s Hospice South West’s provision and offers more choice to families so that they can remain close to home or take a complete break away from the area they live.
Norma added: “We are looking forward to hosting the fashion show and we hope to raise a significant amount for Children’s Hospice South West.”
The fashion show takes place at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, which is located just off the intersection between the A38 and A361 in Monkton Heathfield near Bridgwater, on Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 7pm. Tickets for the show cost £2.50 per person and are available from reception at the garden centre.
