Recycle your mobile at
Monkton Elm Garden Centre
PEOPLE from Somerset who have recently received a new mobile phone can now recycle their old, unwanted phones and raise cash for charity at the same time with the help of one of the county’s leading garden centres.
Monkton Elm Garden and Pet Centre, which is located at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton, has launched a ‘phone drop off point’ for the fundraising recycling scheme to help raise money for PDSA.
Elinor Martin, PDSA Corporate Fundraising Manager, explained: “Monkton Elm Garden and Pet Centre has kindly agreed to collect its customers’ old mobile phones at its reception area and help raise money for PDSA. Each phone donated will be recycled and PDSA can get up to £5 per phone.
“The PDSA Mobile Phone Recycling Scheme is a valuable source of income for PDSA and last year it raised over £20,000 for our work. I am delighted the garden centre has chosen to support such a worthwhile scheme.”
Leading veterinary charity PDSA operates 47 PetAid hospitals and branches throughout the UK and provides free veterinary care for sick and injured pets.
Monkton Elm Garden Centre Manager, Norma Moore said: “We thought it would be a good idea for our customers to be able to donate their old and unwanted mobiles phones to charity. People can drop off the phones at our reception area from now (March 2008) onwards.”
To link in with 2008 being the International Year of the Planet, the garden centre is planning a series of free recycling and eco-friendly events during the coming months.
Every phone handed in guarantees the organisation a good donation to help pay for the running costs of PDSA. The money raised will go towards the care of pets in need. |
