Gardening expert at Roadshow in Taunton
A FORMER gardener from Windsor Castle and Kew Gardens will be in the Patio Department at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Somerset next month (April 2008) to offer visitors top tips and advice at the store’s Halls Garden Roadshow.
Ian Powell, who is now the resident gardener for Halls Garden Buildings, will be giving gardening advice to visitors at the garden centre, on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6, 2008.
The Chief Executive of Halls Garden Buildings, Justin Farrington Smith said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre as our greenhouses and garden buildings are sold on site.
“Ian is a very pleasant and approachable man, who has a wealth of gardening knowledge. He is happy to share his expertise with visitors to the garden centre and hopefully inspire them to start greenhouse gardening.
“His career as a renowned plantsman and garden designer has spanned over three decades. Although he has enjoyed gardening on the grandest scale, he retains a love of planting and vegetable growing for personal pleasure.”
Justin believes gardeners of all standards from novice to expert will benefit from discussing their green-fingered ambitions with Ian, who is the former head gardener of Harewood House in Yorkshire.
Justin continued: “People will find Ian’s advice invaluable whether gardening is a new hobby or you are a seasoned gardener.”
Visitors to the Roadshow in the Patio Department at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre will also be able to discuss garden projects with the garden centre’s landscapers and patio suppliers.
The garden centre’s General Manager, Norma Moore said: “We hope as many people as possible come out to meet Ian and be inspired by his knowledge and ideas and also by our own in-house staff who also have a great deal of experience.
“Not only can we provide lots of free advice we also have an excellent selection of landscaping products in-store now. They include patio paving, decorative aggregates, walling stone, garden edgings, coping stones and balustrading.”
