Chance to get tooled up for the new season…

SOMERSET gardeners who would like to get the best from their tools this season are invited to a free ‘evening with the experts’ at one of the county’s garden centres next week (May 14).

A representative from Wolf Garten Tools will be at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Taunton on Wednesday, May 14 from 7pm to give guests top tips on using their garden equipment. Admission to the event is free.

Dean Wildman, Garden Hall Supervisor at the garden centre, which is located at Monkton Heathfield, said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for gardeners of all abilities to come along and find out about garden tools and how to get the best from them at this time of year.”

Craig Harris, National Sales Accounts Manager at Wolf Garten Tools, will be giving free advice on using tools to cultivate the soil.

Dean added: “As one of Wolf Garten’s flagship stockists we carry the company’s entire range of products. We hope that the evening will be an opportunity for members of the public to come along to the garden centre to get some free expert advice on how to achieve the best results from their garden tools this season.”

The evening will include a raffle to win various tools and other garden-related goodies with the proceeds being donated to Children’s Hospice South West, which is the garden centre’s chosen charity of the year.

Children's Hospice South West

Children’s Hospice South West opened its first hospice, Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, in 1995. The hospice offers children with a life-limiting or life-threatening conditions respite, relaxation, friendship and a sense of community. Little Bridge House immediately provided support for up to 200 families.

The demands on Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House increased to the extent that there became a vital need for a second children’s hospice and in April 2007 they opened Charlton Farm near Wraxall, Somerset.

Having another hospice has instantly doubled Children’s Hospice South West’s provision and offers more choice to families so that they can remain close to home or take a complete break away from the area they live.
