Under-12s footballers win the league title

BLACKBROOK Wolves Under-12s football team is celebrating winning an area league title earlier this month (March 2008) thanks to the backing of Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre.

The Wolves won the Tony Pryce Taunton and District Sunday Youth League Under-12s Division One championship in kit sponsored by the garden centre, which is located at Monkton Heathfield between Taunton and Bridgwater.

Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre’s Shop Manager, Steve Searle, whose son Richard plays for the team, said: “Blackbrook Wolves Under-12s won 13 of its 16 league matches and drew two of the other three fixtures to win the championship.

“They are a good team and one of the most feared sides in the league, opponents are always worried before they face the Wolves.”

The Wolves, whose opponents included other Taunton teams and Watchet Town, clinched the title in their last match earlier this month (March 2008), winning 4-1 at home to Heathfield.

The new league champions scored 70 goals this season and had a goal difference of plus-49.
